Vlog 1: Samsung Genio Touch

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Well it looks like Youtube has decided to work for me today and I have been able to upload my short video review of my new phone. It is more a video of my initial thoughts rather than a full in-depth review. I recorded it using my webcam so I apologize for the sound quality, hopefully you can hear me. Also there is a slight bit of interference from the phone connecting to the service provider but that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I recorded this review a couple of days ago so I feel more adjusted to the phone now. As I have stated in the video, I think it is a really good phone and it is simple to use. I have yet to encounter any problems with it.
I would recommend the phone to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive touch screen phone and who doesn't want one that is overloaded with unnecessary features. Lets not forget its main function here. :)

Yes this is one of my first video logs in a while. I may record another one but I'm not sure. I might just do them for reviews of things I buy. I prefer to blog about my life rather than talk about it!

At the moment I am currently writing an essay for one of my module assignments. It is pretty intense and I have quite a bit of reading to do. So please bear with me!

Bye for now.

The Ugly Truth

Saturday, August 08, 2009

the-ugly-truth Hey everyone, ready for your Saturday dose of craziness?  … I thought you were!

I went and saw the film “The Ugly Truth” a couple of days ago and it was anything but ‘ugly’ (see what I did there?). The film was a typical romantic comedy. It had highs, lows and non-stop laughs in between. It also manage to satisfy my romantic side and even left me a little bit tearful at times (courtesy of Gerard Butler’s brilliant performance).

The story centers around the control freak of a woman, Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl). She has a cat, OCD and enjoys researching into a mans background before she decides if he matches her checklist of the ideal man. This makes her (unsurprisingly) quite unsuccessful regarding love and relationships. She goes home after another disaster of a date where she sees on TV a programme called “The Ugly Truth” in which the presenter, Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler), gives out relationship advice in the most cynical way possible. Abby phones into the show and has a huge on-air argument with Mike about how not all men are as chauvinistic as he is.

Eventually it ends up with the two having to work at the same TV Station. The two spark a love-hate relationship when Mike agrees to help Abby bag her dream man, the very cute doctor Colin (Eric Winter). Soon Mike finds himself falling for Abby (and this is where I tell you no more!).

The film is full of laughs and silly moments which you won’t forget (for instance Abby’s ‘spazzy dance’). If you enjoy chick flicks and romantic comedies then this is the film for you. It subverts away from the clichés of most romantic comedies and provided the audience with a few surprises along the way.

I would personally give the film a rating of 5 hearts out of 5. It was brilliant and no that’s not just because I love Katherine Heigl’s acting. The film wasn’t too long either (which is always a plus!). My attention span is brilliant at the best of times so knowing that I don’t have to sit down for three hours to watch a film makes me very happy indeed!

- Rated as: A must see.

The screen that we (Me, Shola and Aisha) saw the film in was brilliant. It was one of the larger screens and I thought I was going to get vertigo from climbing all the way up to our seats. But once I’d settled down with my bottle of Cherry Coke and the film had started I was lost. Lost in a sea of happiness, as if all of my troubles had disappeared.

After the film we were practically starving and decided to brisk walk over to the nearest Subway. This wasn’t without its randomness. The guy serving us was flirting (really badly, might I add. I mean come on, is there such thing as subtlety?), the banter we had was hilarious, Shola bought me a cookie (which I didn’t realise was there until half an hour later!) and a giant moth dive-bombed my head.

So I suppose I would just like to take this moment to thank my friends Shola and Aisha for being scared of moths (as I have never walked out of Subway so fast in my life and actually been relieved). Thank you, you two rock.

Well I think I have sufficiently talked your ear off.

My questions for today are:

Are you scared of insects? And what are your tactics for dealing with said flying/crawling monstrosities?

Until next time, I bid you a good night. :)

Windows Live Writer

Monday, March 30, 2009

windowslivewriter I just updated my Windows Live Messenger to the new version and it is pretty cool if I do say so myself. I also downloaded this program they had called Windows Live Writer. It allows you to post to your blog from a program that runs on your computer. So far it has been easy to use.

You can uploaded images and add effects to them too. On the left I have put up a screenshot of the software with the reflection effect on it.

The colour scheme has been set by me to pink but you can change it to any colour scheme you want to suit your tastes.

I don’t know if I will be using this program over Blogger as I am still trying it out. But so far it has really impressed me. To say it is a free program it isn’t that bad.

Another good thing about this program is that any pictures you upload to it automatically get hosted in your Picasa web albums.

You also can install cool add-ons for it, I’ve added a Flickr add-on. Which allows me to upload images from my Flickr account or other accounts right to my blog post.

When you are post your blog you can actually preview you blog in your blogs layout made by you. Basically you can preview the post exactly as it will be displayed on the web.

There are many other features of this program but I think for now I will leave it to you to decide what you think of it.

You can download Windows Live Writer here: download.live.com/writer

Hope you have fun with this program!
