University feels too soon

Sunday, November 30, 2008

I can't believe it's the end of November already, the month just seems to have flown by. Oh-Vintage's blog everyday for a month challenge has ended too and I'm happy to say that I have done it! :)
It was really fun, I think I'm going to carry on blogging everyday seen as I liked it so much.

People are already getting offers back from universities! It's scary because I haven't even sent my application off yet. I just need to do a few final things on it and then it will be ready. No point rushing it and making a mess right? The official deadline is not while the 15th of January but I plan to send mine off way before Christmas. I can't leave something that important to the last minute!

I'm a little bit nervous to be honest, I mean we'll all be going our separate ways. Of course I'll still keep in touch with people, but I suppose I will miss college. We always joke around and have a good time. I hope I can still meet up with people and go to the cinema like we always do.

I'm looking forward to Christmas, I just love all the festivities and atmosphere. Well, apart from the atmosphere at the local shopping center (that can get pretty scary when last minute shoppers are out!).

I have an advent calender too, which is just super cute! I didn't ask for one this year because I thought I was too old for them but Greg came in my room and held up my calender! Turns out my mum had just gone and bought me one (thank you!). I asked her why she had bought me one because I thought I was too old and she replied, "Of course you not too old!". Aw, she's kind. :)

All this talk about Christmas reminds me I need to write out my Christmas card list. I have some really cute cards this year to give out. Tee-hee! ^_^;

Well, I'm going to get an early night tonight (after I've read some manga!).

Bye. xx<3

Azumanga Daioh

Saturday, November 29, 2008

I started watching another anime, called "Azumanga Daioh", today. I think it's a great anime and pretty addictive. I like the characters because they have at least one that you can relate too. This is a little about the series according to Wikipedia (which sums it up nicely!):

"Azumanga Daioh chronicles everyday life in an unnamed Japanese high school in Tokyo, following the trials and triumphs of six girls: reserved Sakaki's obsession with cute animals, Chiyo's struggle to fit in with girls five years older, Osaka's spacey nature and skewed perspective on the world, Yomi's aggravation at an annoying best friend, Tomo, whose energy is rivaled only by her lack of sense, and Kagura's efforts in sports and school".

This is the opening theme for the anime:

I'm thinking about buying the box set because I'm enjoying it that much.

How cute does it look! :)

So *hint hint* if anyone wants to buy that for me! Don't worry, I'm only joking! I'll probably go and buy it myself seen as I can't wait for Christmas. :)

My question for today is:

What do you think is cute(it can be anything!)?

My answer:

Chris. ^_^;

Random video of the day

Friday, November 28, 2008

I thought today I'd share with you one of my favourite episodes from Yu-Gi-Oh: The abridged series.

I think the voices are done brilliantly, they sound more or less the same as the actual TV show. It's one of my favourite internet parodys.

You can watch the first episode here.

Are you busy?

Thursday, November 27, 2008

OK, I have literally twenty minutes to write this blog entry. Why do I leave things to the last minute?

I've been playing on my Nintendo DS, it helps me unwind after being at college for seven hours. Sometimes I can be there for nine hours on a Thursday, if I don't come home for my two hour dinner break.

I don't mind because I'm a hard working person like that. By doing extra work I feel like I'm trying my best to get into university. Some second year students are only doing three courses where as I am taking four courses, so I'm putting more hours in. Not to mention all the studying and work I do at home.

When I step back and think about it, I am a busy person.

I do college work, maintain Kihugs.com, socialize, see Chris, go out shopping/to the cinema etc and all my other hobbies too, like gaming, reading, blogging, chatting on forums etc.

The picture on the left is a good representation of how I multi-task (mostly late at night). Except you can replace the PlayStation 2 there with a Nintendo Gamecube, seen as I love Nintendo. :)

The manga in Konata's arms is so typically me though (don't worry I am fond of many "intelligent" literary works too).

I need to start going to bed early, if you've been following the pattern of my blog post times you will see how bad my sleep patterns are. Although yesterday I did go to bed quite early (early for me anyway!).

My form tutor actually asked me when do I sleep. The thing is I do sleep, I just don't get enough of it. I'm really bad on the weekends when I love nothing more than to sleep in while half past ten. Bliss. :)

Questions:

1) Would you consider yourself a busy person?
2) What do you do to keep yourself organized (assuming you are somewhat organized!) ?

My answers:

1) You would be lucky to catch me!
2) I have a big planner in which I write important dates and then I have a separate notepad in which I write my homework and things I need to remember. I think I am quite organized (well I am when I want to be!).

Night!

Heroes

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

My new coat came today! It is so nice and snug, I love it (not as much as Chris!). :)

I'm off to watch Heroes now that I've taped (Sky+ rocks!) because I'm such a little fangirl like that.

I will reply to comments tomorrow!

Chat later

Blogger

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

The blog for a month challenge is almost over. I can't believe I've managed to come on here everyday and blog. Well actually I can! I like Kihugs.com a lot more since I revamped it.

I haven't been online much recently because of college work. I'm in the middle of coursework that counts towards my final grade so I've been busy working on that. I have also been reading manga (don't shoot me!).

Just so I can set this straight, my site is powered by Blogger. I cannot use PHP scripts because they are not compatible with my host. Sorry. :)

I like Blogger because it's easy to maintain and I can access it via college. I think they would block most of the other blogging systems.

In other news (I'm starting to sound like a news reporter!) I have invested in a new coat. A nice thick one that should keep me all snug when it's minus 5 degrees outside!

Feel free to answer the questions from my previous blog.

I have one more for you:

What are your plans for the weekend, going anyway special etc?

I'm going to my friends house to try out her new Xbox 360 with her!

Christmas is coming up!

Monday, November 24, 2008

I'm currently watching "This Is England" on TV, it's a pretty sad film but there's nothing else on! This is just a quick blog because I want to go to bed. :)

College was good today, I got to catch up and chat with my friend Flow. She's been stressed and I cheered her up a bit.

I haven't been up to much lately other than college work and getting my University application up to scratch. I'm happy because I've nearly finished it now and that will be a huge weight off my shoulders.

I will be sad to leave college in a way because of the friends I've made there but I'm sure we can keep in touch through MSN and Facebook!

I'm looking forward to Christmas and all the festivities. :)

Some questions for you:

1) What do you want for Christmas? Surprises or do you want something specific?
2) Doing anything special for Christmas?

My answers:

1) I prefer surprises, after all it's the thought that counts.
2) Family meals, going out and all that jazz.

Until tomorrow

Sunday, November 23, 2008

Thank you to everyone who commented and wishes Greg a Happy Birthday yesterday. :)

It's too late for me to blog now, so I shall bring you a "Larissa Update" tomorrow. I will go return everyone's comments now. <3

Bye for now!

Happy Birthday Greg!

Saturday, November 22, 2008

I love birthdays. Birthdays = cake. It's especially good when it's scrummy chocolate cake like what we had for Greg's birthday today.

I apologize because unfortunately I didn't get chance to take any pictures of the cake before we ate it. The picture on the left is similar to what it looked like before it disappeared. :)

We sang "Happy Birthday" too, it was slightly out of tune but I feel it was a good team effort made by me and my parents. Greg seemed happy enough and awarded us 10 points, but he advised us to work on our harmonies.

I wanted to sing my tried and tested "altered" versions of the song:

Happy Birthday to you,
You belong in a zoo,
You look like a monkey,
And you smell like one too.

or

Happy Birthday to you,
Squashed tomatoes and stew,
Bread and butter in the gutter,
Happy Birthday to you.

But we opted for the old classic (aw fudge).

Greg heard me on the phone earlier and I began passing messages to him from Chris on the phone.

Greg: "Who's on the phone?"
Me: "Chris"
Greg: "Tell him I said hi"
Me: "Greg says hi"
Chris: "Tell him I said Happy Birthday"
Me: "Chris says Happy Birthday"
Greg: "Tell him I said thaaankoo"
Me: "Greg says thankoo"

I felt like a translator and as I was thinking about that Greg proceeded to nick my toast with a smug little smile. I let him off because it was "his day".

So all in all Greg had a great day and even though he's a fifteen year old pain in the butt, I wish him a Happy Birthday.

He best get me a good present for my 18th! ^_~

Late night blogging

Friday, November 21, 2008

I'm sorry Flow! This is a super quick blog so she does not freak out that I'm blogging late again. Check out my previous posts comments. ^_^;

It's Greg's 15th birthday tomorrow, he is my younger brother. I'm looking forward to eating some chocolate cake! Of course I will let him have the first piece but I will be staring at him like a hungry puppy till he surrenders and gives me some cake.

So I'll blog tomorrow and hopefully include some pictures!

Sick day = Life List

Thursday, November 20, 2008

I've not been to college today due to being ill. I feel a bit better now, I suppose it's all the stress and pressure of work getting to me. That and also "girl trouble". I'll spare you the details.

Flow phoned me up and asked how I'd been today, which I thought was sweet of her. She made me promise that I would blog early so I can get to bed early. However she did not forbid me from reading any manga before bed (joking!). ^_^;

I've thought about my life as it is and I feel I can organize myself. I'm going to set myself a random "life list" now.

Larissa's uber-cute and chocolate flavored list
(Yes, I'm hungry and I thought I'd give it a daft name)

1) Be more organized(ha!).
2) Plan a revision timetable and stick to it.
3) Work on English linguistic investigation for college.
4) Do some research for Media coursework.
5) Do some research also for Archaeology coursework.
6) Watch less anime (Nooo! >_<) 7) Utilize my time better - Do not get distracted by the TV/Gamecube/DS/Anything fun!
8) Go to bed earlier to prevent "napping" in the afternoons.
9) Eat less junk food and eat more brain food...like um...bananas. On second thought, I hate bananas. x_X
10) Actually revise, duh.
11) Send off UCAS.
12) Keep my room tidy.. (Zombie mode: Must. Clean. Room. Uuuhhh.. *shuffles with arms out stretched*)
13) Have more faith and confidence in myself.
14) Stop worrying like an old woman! :)
15) Laugh about things and chillax. My shoulders are seriously tense.

Well that's my "life list" done for now. I will edit/update it in another post should I feel the need to.

My questions for today are:

1) Would you consider making a "life list"?
2) If so, would you blog it?
3) How organized would you say you are on a scale from 1 to 10 and why? (10 being super organized and 1 being not organized at all).

My answers:

1) Done
2) See above. ;)
3) I would say about 6 because I have a tendency to worry when things aren't done on time.

Snark

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Chris came to my house today. It was good because I've not been feeling to well lately and he cheered me up. It's shame when he has to go home because we can literally talk for hours! The picture represents me when I have to say goodbye to Chris. :)

This is a short blog because I just thought I'd promote the forum I use. It's called Snark and it was made by Jacky of Dubious.nu.

There are nice people there who can help you with any problems you may have, be it personal or web-related. They are also really funny!

I hope I can see you there. 'Night!

Heart-shaped crisp

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Apparently I look like Tohru Honda from the anime Fruits Basket. Maybe it's because of my hair style, the fact I have blue eyes and I think bunnies are cute.

Tonight I've been busy filling in my University application on the UCAS website.

It has been a working progress really from a few weeks ago, but you can edit your application online before you send it. I was just adding my final adjustments. Now all I have to do is paste in my personal statement; a short piece of writing in which you effectively "sell yourself" to the Universities you are applying too.

I can't wait to get my application finished and sent off. It will just be one less thing on my list of tasks.

I already have all my coursework to deal with and not to mention studying for my actual exams.

I know it will all pay off eventually when I (hopefully) get excepted into a University. I just have to keep working hard and try not to get behind!

It's easy said than done, especially when there are so many other fun things I'd rather be doing (like going out with Chris). I really need to work on controlling my short attention span.

Speaking of Chris, I did see him today. We went to lunch together so I got to spend an hour with him. We're in the same college and don't see each other often so it's good when we have a break together to have a laugh. I'm glad I was optimistic today, maybe it's the influence of Shugo Chara!

Chris sent me a funny picture today of this heart-shaped crisp he found:

If you tilt your head to the left you can just about see it. :)

Cute, huh? He said it reminded him of me....

and then he ate it. :(

I suppose the way to a man's heart is through his stomach right. ^_^;

Hope you all had a great day and thank you for answering my blog questions.

I've got some more for you:

1) What do you normally blog about? e.g. personal stuff
2) What year are you in at "school"? Have you left perhaps?
3)What are your career goal(s)?

My answers are:

1) I blog about anything that randomly pops into my head!
2) I'm currently in my final year of college and am applying to University.
3) I want to be either a Teacher or a Journalist.

Shugo Chara

Monday, November 17, 2008

I've been watching this super cute anime called Shugo Chara today; recommended by Rima of School Girls' Blog.

It is about a girl called Amu Hinamori who has a reputation of being "cool and spicy" at her school. However her real personality is that of a shy girl; much like me (haha).

It's a sweet anime that teaches you to be true to yourself. Something I suppose everyone should take note of.

Its easy to watch and not too complicated. So I would recommend it to any person who likes shojo anime or just general "cutesy" anime. Check out the opening theme.

I was in college today for an hour and a half. I like Mondays because I only have one lesson.

It wasn't that good though because I didn't get to have a laugh with Chris. He finishes college before me on a Monday so I don't normally see him. -_-;

Oh well, I'm optimistic for tomorrow. I have no idea why but I've just got a feeling everything will be alright and work out.

Some questions for you:

1) What is your "feel good" song?
2) Do you have a hobby? What is it?
3) What is your favourite kind of food/snack?

My answers:

1) Mine would be "My sweetheart" by Tokyo Mew Mew (J-pop I know!)
2) Reading, gaming and looking after Kihugs!
3) Mine have to be Oreos, I love them. =p

Magicle x Miracle

Sunday, November 16, 2008

I'm blogging late again, no surprises here then. :)

I went to Meadowhall yesterday with Chris and I bought new Manga. One of them is called "Magical x Miracle" and its about this girl called Merleawe who hopes to become the best at magic. Its a good read and has quite a bit of humor in it so I'm glad I bought it; I'm probably going to buy the volume 2 next weekend.

I really need to be saving my money for Christmas presents though but I always end up seeing something I want. Whether it be Manga or a DVD.

I wouldn't class myself as a "Shopaholic". I think you need a few fancy credit cards to become one of them and buy several sets of one thing in different colours. Like buying the same dress in different colours for every occasion! (insert happy noise here).

Meadowhall was as packed as I thought it would be. We were defiantly lucky to find a a seat in the food court aka pigs feeding trough. Yum.

You have to literally pounce on an open table as soon as you see someone leaving it. People start to get nervous as "sharks with food trays" swarm around them and as soon as any holes in their defense appear...BAM! Ten pre-teens hop on your table and start discussing who got "totally smashed" that weekend.

Its a crazy place I tell you. I wonder why no one has been crushed there yet by the sheer amount of people.

College tomorrow. I don't feel well so I don't want to go but at least I only have one lesson. I can surely get through that.

Here are some questions for you:

1) Where do you normally go to shop and what is it like there?
2) What are your spending habits like: Do you prefer to save or "flash the cash"?
3) Have you bought all your Christmas presents yet or are you going to leave it till the last minute? :)

My mum is the best

Friday, November 14, 2008

Well I'm super happy with the feedback I've received regarding Kihugs' new layout. Thank you everyone. Its feels nice to know my work is an improvement and I'm proud of the change I've made.

I finally got rid of that notion that I had to make my blog conform to at least a few things. For example, having an image map and large header image. *shudder*

Everything on this layout is credited to me and now I can't be called a hypocrite when I rant on about illegal use of celebrity images.

Today has been good. My friends from my media class have been looking at Kihugs and they were actually impressed. I was like, "Wow, you like my site?" Insert big cheesy grin. :)
That class rocks.

Thanks to Elliott for promoting Kihugs and I know your reading this because you admitted you were a regular visitor. haha!

I'm glad its the weekend; finally I'll be able to sleep in.

Well I'm going shopping tomorrow with Chris, so I need to actually get up. I plan to buy a small diary (with dates in it!) so I can actually organize my hectic social life (haha as if!).

My mum is nagging to be mentioned in my blog. So here you go mum, this is a special mention just for you:

My mum is awesome and also she sends me hilarious joke texts. I mean, surely no ones mum can top that. She has a witty sense of humor too, I guess I get my personality from her.

She also makes a yummy egg on toast sandwich. Yes. Be jealous. :)

Well, I'm signing off now. I shall return (like a curry after you eat it, trust me they haunt you). ;)

Much love

Layout Modifications

Thursday, November 13, 2008

As you can see the layout has been changed again.
Personally, I prefer two columns and I've tried to tidy the whole blog up. I'm currently updating the pages and making a couple more tweaks.

What do you think of this version?

What do you think?

Wednesday, November 12, 2008

Well this is the homepage of my layout. None of the links work because I'm just testing it.

What do you think?

Too plain/simple?

Or is it an improvement on the Sakura one?

Do you think my layout is more personal now and fitting of a blog/writing site?

Do you think one column is good or should I have two?

Is the text size ok?

Please leave me your opinion, I would like to know your views.

Layout update

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

As I said in previous blog there are going to be some changes to Kihugs. First of all there is going to be a layout change to make it more like a personal blog site. I'm going to be getting rid of the Sakura image and also the image map.

My main aim is to make this site 100% made by me and more personal.

I would like to say thank you to the people over at Review Me for helping to inspire me to be an individual.

Over the next few days I will be making my new layout, so please be patient while I work on that. I will still continue to blog everyday though to keep you updated.

Picture of the week: Meow

Sunday, November 09, 2008

Do you ever find that you get carried away on forums?

I know I do.

I will say to myself that I will only spend an hour or so on a forum but I always end up finding a topic I'm interested in and start posting in it.

Also because I haven't been feeling to well lately I find that I spend more and more time on the internet. Yet, I'm not updating Kihugs like I'm supposed to. I tend to use Kihugs in the week as more of a boredom killer, especially when I feel like college is giving me a headache. Typing in my blog is quite soothing. The way the keyboard goes, tap tap tap. Ah.

Weekends are forum time in my opinion. A chance to catch up on the threads and topics I want to post messages in. This weekend I got a little too carried away (as you can probably tell).

So I thought I'd share another cute video with you.

I always do that when the fan comes out in the summer. Its so funny to talk into them, don't you think? Or is that just me being strange. ^_^;

My questions for today are:

1) Do you visit forums and if so, are you a regular poster?
2) Do ever talk into fans like the video?
3) What was the last film you watched and was it any good?
4) What is you favourite word/saying?

My answers:

1) Yeah, go to my links section to visit the forums I use.
2)Yep, its fun!
3) The last film I watched was "27 Dresses" on dvd with my mum. Its a real feel good kind of film and is really funny in some parts. Also James Marsden is in it, he was one of my favourite X-men.
4) My favourite saying of the moment is what has made Picture of the week this week. Brace yourself, here it is:

Picture of the week

Magnifique you all!

This scene in the Arisocats makes me laugh every time I see it. Me and Chris use this phrase in random moments. Also Thomas' expression in this screen shot, as he is preparing to say the line, is priceless.

Video of the day!

Contact lenses and New York

Friday, November 07, 2008

Why I leave my blogs to the last minute I will never know.

I'm going to get contact lenses because I'm shortsighted, which basically means I can't see things that are far away (I know its stupid to name it "short" sighted!). I hoping that they will suit me and I won't have any problems with them. I'm fed up of squinting at signs and people (seriously, I don't recognise people until they come closer I always end up squinting). I will still wear my glasses sometimes, like when I'm blogging.

We were talking about our New York trip in Media today. I'm going to New York with my Media class on the 29th of February and we're staying for 5 days! I can't wait! It's going to be so good, just like in the films eh? I went to Florida when I was 15 but this will be my first time in the "Big Apple".

Well my blog for this evening is fairly short, I will update Kihugs/reply to messages/write a more substantial blog (one that you can really sink your teeth into!) tomorrow.

Good Night! xx

WPR: Don't submit your site to the shame

Thursday, November 06, 2008

Do you like sending your website to be reviewed at a WPR site? Do you expect that the person in charge of that said site has at least some fairly good knowledge of the Internet and the various "ins and outs" of HTML/PHP/design, before they start reviewing your site?

My answer to both of those questions is, Yes.

Yes with a capital "Y".

I'm pretty sure you feel the same way too. Unless you have low standards and don't care about the quality of the review you receive; you're ok with that fact that some young 13 year old is churning out reviews, faster than you can click that "submit" button.

I love receiving reviews. They help me to improve my site, fix any errors or just generally give me some useful tips that I can take and learn from. Criticism is fine as long as its constructive and isn't just some person typing for the sake of it.

This is an example from a site that reviewed Georgina's site, Heartdrops (refer back to my blog on web design dos and don'ts). Georgina offers her own reviews on her site which are concise and well written. Why on earth she put her quality site in the hands of this inexperienced person I will never know.

This is the final summarising point that the "reviewer" gave about the site Heartdrops:

Overall, everything looks good, Im not as obbessed with oyur layout though, a celebrity or a design could be better for the next one maybe?

Ick. This whole review reeked of opinionated rubbish and spelling mistakes galore; similar to the example I gave above. There was nothing constructive with the above quote. I'm sure Georgina didn't want people to "obbessed" (I think you meant, obsessed) with her layout. She designed it to be aesthetically pleasing and to show her personality. This reviewer seems pretty close-mined.

This reviewer however did admit that their English wasn't that good, but celebrity layouts?! Doesn't this person realise that using and redistributing celebrity images is illegal; you don't need to be good at speaking English to know that. That is just plain ignorance.

The reviewer also complained about the layout at the beginning of her review, stating that one of her "scripts" should have been used. I then proceeded to click on the link to these so called scripts and to my surprise I found, wait for it, more stolen celebrity images!

I would have thought that "scripts" would have meant pre coded layouts but this above monstrosity just shows how stupidly hopeful I was being.

That site was just one example, but there are many other sites doing exactly the same thing.

When a reviewer like this shows that they are clearly not internet savvy (they didn't even declare a Doctype), would you honestly expect to receive a decent review from them. All you are doing is submitting your personal site to a lame WPR site that is going to stick your review on "coming soon" for about ten weeks, shove all peaceful reasoning in a blender and make a mockery of the English language.

Well, I'm sorry but I just can't do that to Kihugs and I hope you will be careful when picking who you want to review your site.

Ask yourself these questions:

How long has this said reviewer been "reviewing" sites: Are the experienced or have they just set up their ".co.nr" domain?

What is the quality of the reviews they give like: Are they clear and well spoken or would their spelling and grammar make your English teacher cry in the corner?

Are they nice: This is a pretty broad question but basically, are they stingy with the marks they give? Are they constantly giving out low scores without any justification? Do they stink of "I'm only doing these reviews to promote my site" BO?

If the answers to these questions were all negative then run away from that site. Fast.

Don't even think about clicking that button.

However not all reviews are bad and if you join sites such as Review me you will see how reviews can be done fairly based on a point system. Also there are many good sites that offer reviews as their owners invest time and effort into each review.

So don't let this article put you off reviews at all, just be more aware of what makes your site not worth "submitting" to the shame (pardon the pun) of a badly put together review site.

Remember: Your site deserves the best.

All opinions expressed in this article are my own. Thanks to Gerogina at Heartdrops for creating a great site. :)

Yatta! I did it!

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

Why do college days always go so slow but when I get home my evening always goes by so quick. It's Sod's law I tell you.

I've been playing Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for Nintendo DS quite a bit recently. I love my DS it always helps pass the time when I am bored and have nothing to do! I've always been a Zelda fan ever since I got introduced to it by a friend. I bought Twilight Princess for the Gamecube and Chris lent me Windwaker too.

We can spend ages playing through the games together. He always helps me complete the parts I get stuck on and then I do the parts he gets stuck on. We're like this ultimate gaming team when it comes to Zelda.

It was a shame when I got stuck at one part in the game and Chris wasn't around. No matter how much I tortured myself over trying to figure out this puzzle, it just wasn't happening. So I calmly placed my DS down and decided that I would return to it later.

"Yatta!"
I managed to get past the part that I was finding difficult; a few minutes ago to be precise. I'm really happy now!

Now I know how Hiro feels when he arrives in New York for the first time.. ;)

I always find that if I can't do something the first time around, after I've had a break from it I can usually do it when I come back to the game.

Speaking of Heroes, the episode tonight was epic. I mean I'm literally on the edge of my seat every time I watch it. I'm such a Heroes fan girl, I even have a shirt! *blushes*

I managed to get all my homework for archaeology done today, it feels good when you accomplish a task. :)

Some questions for you:

1) Do you own a Nintendo DS/other game console? What is you favourite game for it?
2) Do you watch any TV shows, what is your favourite?
3) Do you normally complete homework as soon as you get it or do you procrastinate sometimes like me?

Ebay addict

Tuesday, November 04, 2008

Hey, I've been quite busy today at college. Working and getting my English Language investigation up to speed. I feel like I'm really getting a good amount of work done which is something to be happy about; free time is gold dust when you're a student.

I've been trying to figure out what I can buy people for Christmas. I know its a little early to be thinking about Christmas presents but I really want to avoid the mad rush and get everything sorted as soon as possible. All I can picture is me stuck in a massive cue at Thorntons with my arms full of chocolate and being bashed around by who are also stocking up on chocolaty goodness; possibly for their toy-boys. Trust me, old ladies are ruthless when boyfriends/Christmas presents are at stake.

I already have a few ideas in my head but I'm not going to write them on here as a certain someone will come peeping; yes Chris I mean you.

I love Ebay. They have so many quirky gifts and unique items. I really am internet-shopaholic, I should start a fan listing for that if there isn't already one!

This Yuki bag is so cute. I was originally going to ask Chris to get it me (haha) but the auction was running out in an hour. So I've bought Yuki.

Anyway! I need to focus on buying people presents and not get carried away on Ebay. Another good site for Christmas gifts is, Getting Personal. You can buy personalised gifts and the prices aren't too bad either, so I recommend you check that out.

Oh! Before I forget, I've joined a forum called Superawr. Its a cute little forum so you should join too if you haven't already.

Some questions for you:

1) Where do you get your gift ideas from?
2) How often do you buy yourself things?
3) Are you going to join Superawr?

First day / LBD

Monday, November 03, 2008

First day back at college today, well more like first lesson back at college.

I love Mondays because I don't start college while 2:30 pm. How brilliant is that? I get to sleep in bed till about 9, which is considered a lay in for me, and then spend the morning doing whatever I want.

I took half of the "sweet hoard" into college today and people looked confused when I randomly threw them a bag of Haribos. It looked like I was making sweets magically appear. Which is of course true, seen as I have a Mary Poppins bag and all. I seem to be able to fit everything and anything into my bag. It's like a bottomless pit, either that or I just carry too much stuff.

My English Language lesson flew by and I soon found myself walking out of college.

While I was in the car my phone rang, it was Chris. I couldn't hear him at first so I just sat there saying, "hello? hello?? heellllooo?".

It went all fuzzy on the phone and then his voice boomed in my eardrum saying, "WHERE ARE YOU?"; my eyes practically bashed together in their sockets.

"I'm in the car just near my house" I replied in a timid voice, scared that he was going to break the speaker on my phone.

Turns out he was just calling to ask if I was still up for going to Meadowhall; he needed to buy a book that he'd pre-ordered.

So I spent most of my afternoon at Meadowhall which, thankfully, wasn't packed with millions of shoppers doing Christmas shopping. I hate having to fight my way through bags and other dangerous obstacles, such as prams! I swear prams are designed to run teenagers over.

We went to Waterstones and picked up the book he wanted. It was a History book about Russia that he had to read for his coursework. I'm jealous that he knows so much about History and I don't. In school I was always rubbish at History, probably because I spent most of my time doodling or staring out of the window.

After we had finished looking around Meadowhall we went to Pizza Hut, I was starving after all that walking around. My mouth was watering before we even walked through the door. I love pizza, but that's not a good thing.

Whilst in Pizza Hut, Chris asked me to a restaurant called The Venus for his 18th birthday, which is on New Years Day. I happily agreed but in the back of my mind sulked.

Venus = I have to wear my Little Black Dress (LBD).

LBD = less pizzas if I want to still fit in it.

Even though I'm a size 8/10 I'm always worried about gaining weight. I need to cut down on all this tasty junk food if I want to look good for his 18th and most importantly impress his parents.

At least we walked home, so maybe I burnt off some calories then. I seriously doubt it though seen as I scoffed some custard creams. I think I'm being to hopeful.

So all in all I had a good day, well spending time with Chris and my friends is always good.

Oh! Before I go...

I've been nagged to post pictures of myself with the new haircut but, in my opinion, I am not photogenic at all. Oh well, here goes:

Chris is cute though...

I've just noticed the time stamp of this post (11:48 PM!), cutting it a bit close aren't I!

Goodnight. xx

Picture of the week: Fancy a pear?

Sunday, November 02, 2008

Evening, I've really got to stop blogging late at night. I've just been busy with my English Language coursework and I'm afraid I lost track of time. I haven't forgotten to blog though, I'm still up for the challenge.

I'm starting a new blog entitled "Picture of the week", in which I will attempt to show you a funny, cute or just plain weird picture. Drum roll please, allow me to present the phallic-shaped pear:

Oh my gosh!

I assure you this picture has in no way been edited. The phallic-shaped pear, or Phil as he prefers to be called, is in fact real. He made a grand entrance from the fruit bowl (my sides almost burst due to the incontrollable hysterical laughter).

For the brief amount of time we spent together, I felt it was necessary to document the moment. He took it in his stride and posed on the dining table.

However his life span was rather short as my dad proceeded to strip Phil of his masculinity (he cut Phil into small pieces for a nutritious fruit salad, yum!).

All I can say is that I will miss you Phil, at least the picture will remind us all of your ...personality.

I survived Halloween

Saturday, November 01, 2008

Konbanwa. How are you this evening? I've decided to try this blog challenge for November. All I have to do is blog every single day for a month, it isn't so hard. The only thing that may cause reason for concern is my sieve-like memory.

Knowing me (and I think I know myself pretty well) I'll start out really committed and think I'm actually doing well when one day I forget about it completely, resulting in me failing the challenge. Well I'm not taking any chances, I'm actually going to write myself a sticky note to remind me. If you have a blog and would like to take part in the challenge hurry and click on the banner at the top of this post, you have to get your entry in now. I know I've left writing a blog quite late but I've been busy with my linguistic investigation for my English Language coursework.

As you know it was Halloween yesterday, I hope you had a good time. I would have blogged if I hadn't been on constant alert for trick or treaters. Ready to jump for the door and throw several bags of Haribo sweets at them before swiftly shutting the door. Surprisingly there weren't as many preteens out as I thought there would be. They were all probably trying to sneak into the 5th Saw film.

We have so many sweets left over now, if any of my college friends like sweets they're going to love me when I go back to college on Monday. Free sweets for all!

If you haven't already read my previous blog entry please read it now and feel free to comment. You will find out why I am scared of my dentist, I assure you its an interesting Students Tale!

I haven't really been up to much today other than coursework, so I'm sorry for the randomness.

I'm waiting for my 'Tokyo Mew Mew' manga to come, but the site says its waiting for new stock so I don't know how long its going to be! I like to take manga to read in college when I have nothing to do. I usually sit on a bench before my Media class and read some then!

Well I'm going now, this blog was really just to tell you about the challenge! So I'll see you tomorrow. :)
